Tess Holliday Went Furious Over A Slimming App
Tess Holliday is a super famous model who is proud of her plus-size curves. She is a beautiful woman and a social activist who is struggling to help all women love themselves and their bodies just the way they are. One of the recent campaigns Tess participated in ‘We’re beach body ready’ campaign to assure everyone beauty is not only S size. Tess hates being called fat. She says it is worse than any N-word. So, now imagine this beauty finds her own photo in an application that helps adjusting body shape on photos.
Holliday went furious. And there were 2 reasons for that:
1. Her fans thought she has been promoting the app.
2. Her photos were taken without any permission and she actually hates the idea of getting digitally slimmed.
Her reaction was immediate – a slamming Instagram post under a hashtag #effyourbeautystandards has immediately collected 35,000 likes:
‘An app that has nearly 50k downloads was dumb enough to steal photos of myself & two other plus size women & use them for this nonsense.? I’m sharing this because I wanna address a few things. First of all, the fact that anyone thinks it’s ok to market this to ANYONE is appalling, but like, come on y’all ??♀️ Secondly, why is @instagramnot regulating the sponsored content like this? In a world of paid content, flat tummy teas, appetite suppressing lollipops (so many ?) its important for me to tell y’all that I have & will never partner with a brand or do paid content unless I genuinely use it or would recommend it to my best friend.
I’ve been offered crazy amounts of money to sell y’all all kinds of things like teeth whitening (that doesn’t work), weight loss products (that are dangerous), etc., but that’s me- to each their own ??♀️ Lastly never let anyone make you feel like you need to alter your appearance or who you are. You are enough. You are worthy of love in your current body, whatever that body looks like.
As for this bogus app, my lawyers will be sliding in your DM’s boo.’
We should note, that she was not the only plus-size celebrity whose image was stollen to demonstrate all application features. Developers actually have stollen snaps of 3 famous plus-size ladies. But only Tess reacted. Maybe it was just what they wanted to draw more attention to their product?
Tess is sure that until applications like this exist – body shaming and bullying will never extinct. If some people believe they have right to show off the others their ‘perfect’ size and force to fixing the way their bodies look via products like these – there will be new victims, who consider themselves not pretty enough for this world.
Holliday belongs to women who are completely satisfied with her look. And this is not just her opinion. She is happily married, with two stunning kids and all her family and her husband consider Tess one of the prettiest women alive. What are your thoughts?
